That's just straight up false. The block under the chair, and/or the ones adjacent to that are the only tiles required to be blocks for it to be valid housing. There is no rule that the block can't be by a wall. This hive house here didn't satisfy the condition because the one walkable non-platform tile that existed didn't have either a platform or block to its left. If it did, I'm pretty confident this house would've satisfied the condition. Sorted by: 4. Assuming that all of those have walls and a light source, those would count as valid housing. The requirement is that it has a door, not that the door go anywhere. Also notable is that wooden platforms count as doors for the housing rule, so you can actually just have a wooden platform separate the rooms from each other as well.Take some stone blocks, torches, wooden tables and chairs , and some wooden platforms and divide the room up into several smaller rooms. Instead of doors you can use three vertical wooden platforms unhammered. Then test each section individually to find if they are valid or not.
