The ethernet and coax go to face plates, and the two power cables go to the brick/power unit.The original ones installed by Verizon or Frontier (Motorola or Calix) typically consisted of three pieces (not counting the plastic boxes): The ONT itself, usually mounted outside (at the "demarc"). A battery backup unit installed inside, and a power supply feeding the BBU. The battery has nothing to do with Internet service.
