Alternatively in Sound Settings(while FFXIV is running) go to the bottom and open "App Volume and Device Preferences" and for FFXIV set whatever your main audio device is. This was the more permanent solution I used, as I could reenable all other audio devices and not have the sound split or crash issues. Hello, please excuse me, I got FFXIV on my desktop, I open the game in full screen and everything works perfect I get around 98 FPS but there is no sound, I saw on google that bordeless window fix the problem and it does but when I open the game in borderless window I get 4-14 FPS. Maybe the FFXIV sound level is going to 0.This is the problem. When you start FFXIV, it detects the output device/Speaker and configures itself to use this. This isn't a problem if you are using a sound card like Creative's Sound Blaster.
